The Capacity Compass concept emerged in 2013, when Kelly Corey pursued a research question she cared deeply about, "How do nonprofit organizations adopt and use technology to meet their missions?" This question uncovered an important insight -- the culture and strategic approach an organization takes can determine the extent to which it can build efficiency and effectiveness with technology. That insight informs a model and assessment tool, the Capacity Compass, that helps organizations learn how to choose and use AI and other technologies in ways that fit and feel right for their teams.
That research insight, combined with Kelly's leadership in the nonprofit sector as an executive, a consultant and trainer for nonprofit, educational and governmental agencies has filled her toolbox with unique insights and strategies, preparing her to help community organizations navigate the Age of AI. Certified by Anthropic, Google, OpenAI and more, Kelly uses AI-based applications and workflow engineering to guide organizations in leveraging AI for good. The human-centered principles she upholds as a facilitator and designer drive responsible AI use that increases organizational effectiveness and efficiency, freeing up passionate, dedicated humans to do the deep, important work of building relationships and sustaining communities.
Kelly's work has been invited by statewide consortia, universities and colleges, churches, environmental, educational, social service and youth serving organizations.
